I completed my Ph.D. in media studies in the School of Communication & Information at Rutgers University. My primary research interest focuses on media and political culture, specifically issues surrounding political deception. In April 2018 I published my book Free Speech and False Speech: Political Deception and its Legal Limits (or lack thereof). I have also published work in The Journal of Media EducationTechne: Research in Philosophy and Technology, and the Jefferson Journal of Science and Culture, among others (most of which can be found here).

My secondary research interest is in emerging media. I have done work in this area including research looking at the self-perceptions of Facebook users, how players use the messaging system in Zynga games, and user motivation on Tinder.
